Colectivo Trans-formación
Trans-Formación is a collective committed to the human rights of Trans Men (HT) and People Dissenting from Female Gender Assigned at Birth (PDGFAN). Since its inception, they have worked to educate and inform about the realities of transmasculinities, making visible the needs and challenges of a population that, in Guatemala, has been marginalized and whose demands have been ignored for a long time.
They contacted us to create a documentary as part of their campaign Trans-Forming Families. The goal of this campaign is to give visibility to families with trans members, highlighting the importance of building family relationships based on love, care and responsibility.
For this project, our directing approach was to capture in an intimate and real way the daily life of Alejandro and his family. We immersed ourselves in his day-to-day life, accompanying him at home, at work and during a doctor’s visit. All with a small and discreet filming crew, which allowed us to move with agility without disturbing his routine. The interviews with Alejandro and his close family members were used as a thread of the story, giving a direct voice to his experiences.
VISUAL IDENTITY
Trans-Formación’s previous logo had been in use since 2013. After our collaboration in the documentary Familias Trans-Formadoras, the collective commissioned us to renew their visual identity, entrusting us with the complete rebranding of the brand. They were looking for a graphic system that would allow them an integral and coherent communication in all their channels.
The concept behind this identity is based on a typographic and fluid design that stands out for several key features. First, it features a wordmark logo that is composed exclusively of typography, giving it a strong and simple identity. In addition, it uses well-defined color blocks and a broad color palette that includes primary and secondary tones, reflecting the diversity of the collective. Finally, an expressive typographic system is incorporated, designed to communicate in a dynamic and adaptable way in all media.
